TITLE: INDIAN EDUCATION COORDINATOR
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree

Effective communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to develop spreadsheets and databases

Ability to provide necessary community resources

Ability to work accurately and efficiently with attention to detail

Knowledge of American Indian history, culture, and the needs of our Native American youth.
REPORTS TO:
Site Principals, Central Office Staff, and Board of Education
JOB GOAL:
Working with students, families, and staff to provide education support to our Native American students. This position also works to facilitate appropriate educational programming.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Have patience, compassion, and a strong desire to help students in the area of academic achievement and cultural studies.

Communicate with students and families as needed.

Maintain accurate records.

Discern information and resources specific to specialty areas.
-
Track student attendance and performance in the educational setting.

Provide guidance and work to implement cultural activities for grades PK-12.
-
Provide information to families and students on scholarships and post-secondary opportunities.

Assist with home visits if needed.
-
Consult with teachers, parents, and administration.
-
Develop plans of action for students and families.
-
Collaboration with local tribal agencies.

Attend ITC meetings each month.
-
Attend Parent committee meetings monthly and report on programming.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Employment is considered annually in accordance with Oklahoma law. Salary and work year to be according to the current salary schedule.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with Oklahoma law and the provisions of the Board's policy on the evaluation of professional personnel. |
