Miami Public Schools is accepting applications for the position of Secretary I at Miami High School for the 2026-2027 school year.
TITLE: Secretary I-Building Level
QUALIFICATIONS:
• High School diploma or equivalent training.
• Proficiency in word processing, computer skills, and ability to navigate common office software.
• Working knowledge of basic office procedures and the operation of common office equipment.
• Good telephone skills and ability to communicate effectively.
• Minimum experience determined by board.
• Must be able to lift 25 pounds.
• Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status.
• Cannot be related to any currently seated board of education member within the second degree of affinity or consanguinity.
REPORTS TO: Superintendent, Principal and/or Assistant Principal
SUPERVISES: Student Assistants
JOB GOAL: To assure the smooth and efficient operation of the school office so that the office's maximum positive impact on the education of children can be realized.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Performs the usual office routines and practices associated with a productive and smoothly-run office.
• May be required to maintain student records such as enrollment, attendance, grades, and/or cumulative records.
• Maintains a regular filing system, processes incoming correspondence and intra-district mail.
• Obtains, gathers, and organizes pertinent data as needed and puts it into usable form.
• Performs bookkeeping tasks which may include payroll, school budget, food service, and activity accounts in accordance with district policy.
• Orders and maintains supplies as needed.
• Assists teachers in preparing instructional materials as requested.
• Places and receives telephone calls and records messages.
• Makes arrangements for conferences and arranges for visitor comfort.
• Receipts and promptly deposits all incoming monies.
• Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as the principal may assign from time to time.
• Complies with Oklahoma Open Records Act.
• Maintains confidentiality
• Complies with the policies and procedures of the school district.
• Possibility of maintaining substitutes for the building
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: At-will for the first year of employment. After the first year, employment considered annually in accordance with Oklahoma law. Ten month year with salary to be according to the current schedule.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Support Personnel.
